Janine (Spendlove) Garner, a BYU History alumna (class of '99, has been a United States Marine for the past 14 years - specifically a C-130 pilot. Janine has multiple combat tours under her belt. The Marine Corps recently assigned Janine to be a liaison to the House of Representatives, so in addition to working on legislation issues and educating and informing people on the Hill about the Marine Corps, she also serves as a military escort when Members of Congress travel overseas.
After graduating in 2008, History alumnus Eli McCann went to BYU Law School, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2011. From there he moved to Salt Lake City to clerk for the Honorable Judge Greg Orme on the Utah Court of Appeals, which opened a door for him to accept a job as counsel for the Supreme Court of the Republic of Palau in the Equatorial Pacific from September 2012 to September 2013. Upon returning from Palau, Eil accepted an associate position with Kirton McConkie in SLC, working with the firm's litigation section.
Melissa Jeppson ('86) enjoys her dream job of teaching high school history in Price, Utah. Melissa was a single mother who returned to school on the state's ARL program to complete the pedagogy and methods classes required for a secondary license. She has since earned a Masters in Secondary Education from Utah State.
