Biography

Matthew E. Mason is an assistant professor of history at BYU. He received his BA in history from the University of Utah in 1995, and his MA (1997) and PhD (2002) in history from the University of Maryland. He started at BYU in fall 2003 after a year at Eastern Michigan University. He teaches a variety of courses in the history department on early American history. He has published articles in a variety of national journals, as well as his first book with University of North Carolina Press (see link below).  He currently lives in Springville with his wife Stacie and daughters Emily (born 1999), Hannah (born 2001), and Rachel (born 2006).
