A. H. Green received a Ph.D. in Near Eastern History from UCLA in 1973. Before coming to BYU in 1985, he taught at the Univ. of Miami (Fla.) and the American University in Cairo (1974-85), where he served as Director of the Center for Arabic Studies. His books include The Tunisian Ulama, 1873-1915 (Leiden, 1978), In Quest of an Islamic Humanism (Cairo, 1984), A Survey of Arab History (Cairo, 1987), and World Civ since the C15 (late 1997, Simon & Schuster Custom Div). Recent articles include "Tunisia's Decolonization Experience," Maghreb Review (London, 1994), "Parish Registers in Late Ottoman Palestine" CIEPO (Jerusalem, 1994), "Jews in LDS Thought," BYU Studies (1995), and "Jerusalem's al-Dajani Family," in a festschrift (Cairo, late 1997). |
