About Phi Alpha Theta

Mission

"We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways."

Why Should I Join?

The Beta Iota Chapter at BYU is one of over 800 active Phi Alpha Theta chapters, totaling over 21,000 members. Our chapter has a distinguished history and recently won the "Best Chapter Award" for the largest division (VI) of Phi Alpha Theta for the year 2002. The Beta Iota Chapter plans to compete for all prizes available from Phi Alpha Theta. The membership fee is $45.
